The Florida House has passed SB 7014 reauthorizing COVID-19 liability protections for health care providers. The bill was brought forward by Senator Danny Burgess and Representative Colleen Burton and is now headed to Governor Ron DeSantis’ desk for signing into law.

With the passage SB 7014 COVID-19 liability protections for health care providers is extended through June 1, 2023. This means that the health care industry, including hospitals, nursing homes, as well as healthcare professionals, like doctors and nurses, are all protected against frivolous “gotcha” lawsuits. The law is an important shield for employers that have been dealing with the brunt of the health crisis and following governmental health and safety guidelines.

Your Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce has been working last year and throughout this legislative session with partners like the Florida Chamber and our Dade Delegation to ensure that the voice of the business community is heard resoundingly.  We are excited to have it go before Governor DeSantis at the mid-stage of session.
