Honorable Maurice A. Ferré, Honorable Francis Suarez Recipients of Award

The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will host its October Trustee Luncheon and 8th Annual Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Award of Excellence, on Wednesday, October 12th, to recognize the outstanding contribution to the development of the Miami Central Business Core. The award honors outstanding contributions to the development of the core of Miami business, recognizing individuals who embody unique and legendary leadership. It is named after Alvah H. Chapman, action-oriented visionary and Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce committee leader, who helped launch The Chamber’s New World Center.  The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Jungle Island located at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail in Miami.

“The award recognizes individuals and organizations who embody unique leadership” said Alfred Sanchez, president and chief executive officer at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. “Each year we honor Alvah H. Chapman, Jr., action-oriented visionary and Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce committee leader, who helped launch The Chamber’s New World Center.”

The event will be held in conjunction with the October Trustee Luncheon when the following individuals and organizations will be recognized in the following categories: 

• Posthumously Individual: Honorable Maurice A. Ferré†, former City of Miami Mayor
• Individual: Mitchell Kaplan, Co-Founder, Miami Book Fair
• Organization: Miami Heat
• Young Leader: Honorable, Francis Suarez, City of Miami Mayor
