Driving Positive Change in 2024: Chamber's Impact on Miami's Business Community
Welcome to the new year! The Chamber has been at the forefront of driving positive change in the South Florida business community, focusing on key priority areas:Transportation, Workforce Housing, Workforce Development, and Resilience.
In the realm of transportation, our collaboration with the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has been groundbreaking. The Countywide Transportation Master Plan, a first-of-its-kind initiative, is shaping the future of transit in our county. The expansion of the smart program includes the launch of The Better Bus Network (BBN), a community-led redesign that significantly improves transit access to jobs, education, healthcare, and enhances the quality of life for our seniors.
Our commitment to workforce development is evident through initiatives like the Apprenticeship Forum, which addresses workforce shortages and development. In conjunction with FIU's Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center, our community-wide education and workforce survey reflects our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of businesses and the workforce. As the survey deadline is upon us, let's actively contribute to shaping the future of education and workforce development in Miami-Dade County.
Regarding workforce housing, we are excited to announce the upcoming release of the third edition of our workforce housing resource guide. This guide provides practical insights and strategies to address the critical issue of workforce housing, taking into account the impact of legislation, necessary improvements, and offering valuable feedback to legislators.
In the area of resilience, we are proud to celebrate a historic milestone for Miami. Our efforts have played a key role in steering the city towards becoming a global Climate Tech Hub. This achievement marks a significant step forward in our commitment to building a resilient and sustainable future for South Florida.
As we embark on this new year, the Chamber remains dedicated to driving positive change, fostering collaboration, and making a lasting impact on the South Florida business community. Together, let's continue to shape a prosperous future for our region.
