Americas Linkage Program visits Colombia
The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s recent Americas Linkage mission to Colombia has significantly enhanced international commerce and innovation. Held from June 10-15, 2024, the mission featured a 21-person delegation representing various sectors such as government, legal, financial, real estate, port authority, development, construction, consulting, and hospitality. During the five-day mission, delegates visited Medellín and Barranquilla, engaging in productive discussions and explorations that paved the way for new business opportunities and partnerships.
In Medellín, delegates toured Comuna 13, an exemplary model of social urban renewal, and met with Governor Andrés Julián Rendon. Discussions focused on Medellín's forward-thinking projects, including high-speed broadband communication and the Port of Urabá. Additionally, the delegation visited Ruta N, Medellín's innovation hub, which showcases the city's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and creating a conducive environment for business growth. These visits highlighted Medellín’s innovative solutions in transportation, housing, and green infrastructure, positioning the city as a leader in urban and economic renewal.
Barranquilla provided insights into its role as a hub for nearshoring, high-tech industries, and sustainability. Delegates met with local business leaders and government officials, emphasizing the city's strategic importance in the global supply chain. Visits to the Free Trade Zone La Cayena and prominent companies such as Technoglass S.A.S., Atlantic Quantum, COFCA and Finotex showcased Barranquilla’s significant business and investment opportunities. The mission not only strengthened economic ties between Miami and Colombia but also offered valuable networking and professional development opportunities for all participants.
Americas Linkage mission programs are designed for groups and companies engaged in international commerce, featuring outbound and inbound missions to select global markets. As Miami is renowned as the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, these missions offer South Florida professionals and public officials a unique opportunity to network with talented leaders, explore new opportunities and resources, and exchange best practices.
