2024 Trustee Luncheon featuring NOVO Awards

Speakers

Rebecca Fishman Lipsey

Rebecca Fishman Lipsey is President and CEO of The Miami Foundation, the home base for generosity, leadership, and connection focused on building a Miami where everyone thrives.

Since her appointment in 2020, Rebecca has grown the Foundation by 50%, infusing a commitment to equity into every grant program and initiative at the Foundation. Rebecca’s focus on collective impact leads the Foundation to bring people together to solve community issues more powerfully together. Under her leadership the Foundation has tackled serious issues like bringing internet to all disconnected families, building a proactive disaster resilience fund, mobilizing the philanthropic response to both COVID and the Surfside building collapse, and incubating countless coalitions and funding collaboratives to address both local and national needs.

Prior to leading The Miami Foundation, Rebecca was the youngest person in history appointed to the Florida Board of Education, overseeing educational policy impacting 3 million children from kindergarten through college. Rebecca founded Radical Partners, an incubator for social impact ventures. She started her career as a public school teacher, inspired by her grandparents’ experience as refugees years ago.

Eric Poms

Eric Poms recently celebrated his 30-year anniversary with the OBC and has more than 30 years of managerial and operational experience in collegiate athletics.

Poms spearheaded the OBC’s inclusion in the new College Football Playoff that began in 2014-15, which includes the OBC hosting eight traditional Capital One Orange Bowl games featuring the ACC Champion versus a top-rated team from the Big Ten, SEC, or Notre Dame and four semifinals in a 12-year period—all over the New Year’s holiday weekend.

Under his leadership, the OBC celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2008-09 and twice hosted two BCS Bowl games in the same season (the Orange Bowl and the BCS National Championship: 2008 – 2009; 2012 – 2013).

Poms has been with the Committee since 1993, serving as Chief Operating Officer prior to moving into his current position. Poms sets the strategic vision for the organization, working closely with the Orange Bowl Committee’s volunteer leadership
