The Sand In My Shoes Award® was established in 1981 and is the most prestigious award offered by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Based on an editorial delivered by the late WTVJ Vice President and News Director, Ralph Renick, the award is presented to outstanding community leaders who have made significant contributions to the South Florida region – demonstrating a deep love and commitment to this community as the best possible place in which to work and live.

THE HYPE AWARDS: ACKNOWLEDGING INNOVATION & ACHIEVEMENT AMONG YOUNG PROFESSIONALS
HYPE Miami® (Helping Young Professional Engage) was created to provide networking opportunities that connect young professionals with prominent business leaders throughout the Greater Miami community. The program identifies initiatives where participants can focus their efforts to positively impact the Miami-Dade business community and contribute to the development of Greater Miami. These opportunities may come from social events, business workshops, mentorships with business leaders or through
educational seminars. The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will recognize young professionals (under the age of 35) that have made notable contributions in the community.

The Maloof Family Scholarship Fund was created by board member Al Maloof, PhD to ensure that five deserving Miami-Dade students would have a scholarship opportunity to be able to attend the college of their choice. Five scholarships of $2000 will be awarded to seniors from Miami-Dade public or private high schools who intend to pursue a degree in business, law,
political science or government service, High school weighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher and demonstrated financial need. Two of the scholarships will be awarded to a son and or daughter of a Miami Dade County and City employee.
The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010. The winners will be announced during a 2010 Board of Directors Meeting. The scholarships will be presented at the May or June 2010 Chamber Trustee Luncheon. The scholarship winners will be invited to attend the meeting and luncheon following, and may be accompanied by their parent(s) or guardian(s).

• Completed financial need (see attached application)
• High school transcript certified copy with application
• Two letters of recommendation from teacher/school official
• Please print your name and school at the top of each page submitted
• Bind the pages by stapling the upper left corner (only once) -- please do not use notebooks or binders

The Natural Resources Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual awards program honoring South Florida businesses that are making an impact in the community with the development of sustainable practices, products or services on Thursday, October 21, 2010. The Sports Hall of Champions honor individuals for the recognition and esteem they have brought to themselves and our community through their achievements in and contributions to sports.
To be eligible for consideration an individual must have gained or maintained fame in sports as a player, coach or executive; made contributions to the betterment of sports in the South Florida community; and been born in South Florida or participated in sports locally and achieved recognition in the community.

The Julia Tuttle Award for Community Involvement and Corporate Citizenship was established in 1986 by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce to recognize a for-profit business whose South Florida corporate giving program and outreach policy is a role model for all to follow.
