Public Policy, Political Outreach and Regional Partnership Goals
Act as a convener for the business community to foster collaboration and to address business issues with one voice:
Reach out to, and work with, partners on a local, regional and statewide basis and establish a closer working relationship with the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
Execute Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. Fly-ins to address priority areas such as immigration, trade, education, transportation and health care:
Partner with Chamber substantive committees on issues that impact the business community to develop a prioritized advocacy agenda and continue to engage them in support of ongoing joint initiatives
Advance the Sustainable Communities Planning Grants Program for the development of a “Regional Plan for Sustainable Development” which will position Southeast Florida to better capture future federal funds for critical infrastructure projects designed to improve the region’s sustainability. This is part of the Sustainable Communities Initiative, a federal partnership initiative of US HUD, DOT, and EPA to guide their strategic activities and investments.
In partnership with the Natural Resources Committee and other stakeholders, draft a Chamber position to address sustainable energy alternatives in a manner that is appropriate to the business community, sensitive to the devastating effects of catastrophes such as the Deep Horizon Gulf Oil Spill, and reflects the need to work towards achieving meaningful solutions for the future.
Advance principles of corporate social responsibility with chamber members.
