Sustainable
South Florida
Awards

, August 17, 2009 -- The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Natural Resources Committee is seeking applicants and nominations for its first annual Sustainable South Florida Awards, an awards program honoring
South Florida
businesses that are making an impact in the community with the development of sustainable practices, products or services. Awards will be presented at a luncheon on October 29, 2009.
Nominations are being accepted in the following categories:
•Green Business: Innovation, Technology, Product or Service - awards a
South Florida
business that provides a superior product, service, or innovation that enables others to practice sustainable and green efforts.
•
Green
Building
: Design & Construction - recognizes an organization whose construction, design or management practices have enabled others to live or work in a sustainable environment.
•Green Education & Outreach - awarded to an organization that has conducted an outstanding public education campaign or outreach program to encourage green or sustainable environmental practices, which has resulted in a positive change in behavior on the part of citizens in the area.
•Green Practices (including marketing)- recognizes effective, measurable and adoptable sustainable or green practices in the workplace and community.
•Green Visionary - recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding and lasting impact toward the sustainability of
South Florida
through advocacy, action or education.
Applicants must be located in
South Florida
, and clearly demonstrate significant achievements in selected category and commitment to sustainable and green practices. Nomination forms will be accepted no later than August 31, 2009 and can be downloaded at www.miamichamber.com.
